I recently watched the fifth Harry Potter film. I loved all the visuals in the movie, but I was upset that in the final battle they cut out Fawkes, Dumbledores Phoenix. In the book Dumbledore was in the middle of destroying the fire serpent that Lord Voldemort had cast at him when in the same moment the Dark Lord sent the spell Avada Kedavra. Knowing his master was in danger Fawkes appeared and swallowed the jet of green light that was headed for Dumbledore. Fawkes burst into flames, but as everyone knows Phoenixes dont die, and a little baby fawkes fell to the floor on top of his ashes. This piece was made to show the battle as it truly happened.
Thankyou very much for the nice words...I like that in both of our illustrations the the phoenix is about to to be blasted away...you know the moment right before...
Gorgeous work! When I stumbled on your gallery I knew that I wanted to +fav something but had a hard time deciding just what since it's all so beautifully detailed. When I found this one I knew it had to be the one, being a fan of the series and all .
You've really captured the moment. I especially love the contrast between the hot colors of the snake and phoenix, and the cool colors of the wizards. Your texture work is simply amazing. Thanks for sharing your art on DA!
Thank you very much for the wonderful comments. Ya know an artist make a piece and just hopes that other people receive it well, especially fans of the series...so it means alot when people like yourself express an approving sentiment. thanks!

This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
